The Antiquary's Story:

Autumn is finally here and peak approaches in New England—Happy October! We are in our tenth month of the year but the word actually stems from the Roman “octo” meaning eight. During Ancient Rome under the Romulus calendar, it was the eighth month out of ten in the year. Quite a tongue twister.

Henry Ward Beecher famously said “October is nature’s funeral month. Nature glories in death more than in life. The month of departure is more beautiful than the month of coming – October Than May. Every green thing loves to die in bright colors.” And we couldn’t agree more.

The beauty is not lost on us ever, and each year we look in awe towards the sky and ground for the beauty of a changing season.
