original oil painting, "Anemone". Artist unknown. Displayed in a patterned gold frame.
The Antiquary's Story: Anemones are associated with untouchable and everlasting love, stemming from the story of Aphrodite and Adonis.
It is said that anemones grew from the tears of the goddess, as she mourned the death of her lover— killed by the gods because of their jealousy over their love affair.
Named after the Greek word for wind, they are sometimes referred to as Windflowers, Grecian Windflowers or the Wind’s Daughter.
